Country pool retreat

On top of a hill and overlooking some stunning countryside, the owners of this country property were seeking a formal country garden that tied the existing tennis court in with a new swimming pool. The layout would need to form the basis of an ongoing landscape plan for the entire space and capture the essence of a formal planting style that the owners loved.

The transition from the pool, tennis court and house were the key issues here. There needed to be an overall integrity to the design that encouraged the natural movement of people and provided cohesiveness to the design. The rectangular pool was sited so that it could be visible from the existing deck, with low planting to ensure visibility of children and a pavilion to allow for pool side entertaining. There are clear walkways between the house, pool and tennis court punctuated by hedging, pathways and a tree lined allee. The house is also framed with small parterres either side of the deck.
